My parents have pretty much always had a record player, but it's one of those all-in-one modern Crosley players they got around 2009 or 2010. When I started getting into records, I knew it sucked and that I needed to get my own anyway since I was about to go to college, so I bought a new turntable. I was on a budget at the time, so I got a Victrola VPRO-2000 turntable, which is one of the few decent quality turntables they make. For sound, I got a pair of Edifier R1280T powered speakers. I got these in 2022, and they have stayed as the core of my setup since.
In 2023, I added a partly broken Yamaha KX-W602 dual cassette deck to my setup. It plays tapes, but one of the decks sounds a little distorted, and I have not been able to fix the sound by cleaning it. The other deck also has a broken door.
I also started collecting CDs in 2023 since I had gotten a car with a 6-slot CD changer, though this was my only actual CD player.
In 2024, I bought a second record player, this time the rereleased Audio Technica Sound Burger, an incredibly compact portable turntable with a battery and built-in bluetooth.
Later that fall, I bought a cassette deck and a pair of speakers on Facebook marketplace, and the people I bought it from gave me the 5-slot Sony CDP-C260Z CD Changer as a bonus. I sold the cassette deck and speakers since they weren't quite what I wanted, but I kept the CD Changer as a part of my setup.
A few months later, in December of 2024, I bought a used Apple iPod 7th generation, and I modded it with a custom backplate and faceplate, a new clickwheel and button, and an iFlash Quad adapter for storage.
